Extra Credit Proposal Form
Name: Pansy Parkinson
Class: Defense of the Dark Arts
I. Topic: Theoretical and Practical Examination of Dark Curses and their Countercurses
a.What do you hope to learn from your research?
A deeper understanding of the driving forces behind Dark Magic and the ways to counteract its effects.
b. How is this topic relevant to the class?
This topic is a continuation of the principles behind the study of Dark Creatures in Defense of the Dark Arts in third year. Knowledge and understanding of the methods employed by enemies allows for more effective ways for protection and avoidance.
III. Interest: Why did you choose this topic?
Although Lord Thingy has been vanquished, there remain followers of Dark Magic who might take advantage of the Dark Lord's absence to fill the power vacuum. This project will give me further skills and knowledge of how to deal with (or preferably avoid) Dark Curses should I ever have to face them.
IV. Research: List a minimum of three sources that you will be using as references to complete your research. Please be specific. For example, if you are using a book include the following: title and author name(s)).
1. Curses and Counter-curses (Bewitch Your Friends and Befuddle Your Enemies with the Latest Revenges: Hair Loss, Jelly-Legs, Tongue-Tying, and Much, Much More) by Professor Vindictus Viridian (SS5)
2. The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble (SS5, GF14)
3. The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts by Millie McMaster
V. Deliverable: What will be delivered to the instructor upon completion of the project (i.e. written report, oral report, lab writ up, etc.)?
Report with half a page for each curse/countercurse combination studied, as well as practical demonstration.
VI. Resources Required:
Permission slip for books from the Restricted Session
Practice classroom or area
Targets for practise (preferably Clabberts or Dugbogs)
